FAQs

What is Minoxidil? <

A clinically tested, Health Canada authorized solution for hair loss when used twice daily for three to six months. Minoxidil is available without a prescription and is very easy to use. Simply measure out 1mL of the topical solution and apply it to the affected area on the scalp then wait for it to air dry. Be sure to keep the area away from bedding and hair accessories while the product is drying.

When can I expect to see results from Minoxidil? <

According to clinical research, it takes up to three months of consistent use of the 5% Minoxidil topical solution to see initial results. This may change depending on the growth cycle of your hair-follicle. It is important to continue using minoxidil to maintain desired effects. Of note, it is normal to notice an increase in hair shedding for the first few weeks as your hair follicles push out old hair to make room for new hair.

What are the side effects of Minoxidil? <

You should not exceed the recommended amount or frequency as it may cause serious side effects. Some of these side effects include chest pain, dizziness, unexplained weight changes, headaches and irregular heartbeat. These side effects require immediate medical attention.

Can I safely use Minoxidil with Finasteride? <

Yes, they actually work in harmony to promote hair regrowth. Finasteride focuses on preventing the breakdown of testosterone into DHT (prevents hair loss) and Minoxidil stimulates blood flow to the scalp (promotes regrowth).

Where can I apply Minoxidil? <

Minoxidil is only effective when applied to the scalp; particularly, the vertex and other areas of the scalp where your hair is thinning. It is however not meant to be used for a receding hairline (this is where Finasteride is most effective). Research is scarce regarding its use on other areas, such as your beard and therefore its application is not recommended on those areas.
